Is putting it in a corner the only way to arrange an L-shaped sofa in your living room? No! You can put it in the middle of the room and free up wall space for storage, like here, for example. Whatever you choose, remember to measure your space and decide if a left or right-hand sofa is best for your room. Now, on with the tips!
Where can the TV go?
The basic idea with a TV is to put it where as many people as possible can watch it comfortably. An L-shaped sofa like this, where every part has a backrest, lets you sit facing two directions so you can have two focuses. One can be the TV and the other maybe a wall with art on it or a window. But if one side of your L is a chaise longue, then it’s probably best to have the chaise longue pointing towards your TV, so you can stretch out and lean against the backrest while watching.
The right size of rug
A rug helps to pull the furniture in your seating area together and to mark it off from the rest of the room. With an L-shaped sofa, make sure that the rug is big enough for all the front legs of your sofa, and for everyone’s feet and the coffee table, if you use one. Also, the ends of the sofa shouldn’t be at the edge of the rug but a bit inside, to give an airy impression and frame the space well. You could put two or more rugs together to get the right size.

How do you style an L-shaped sofa?
Cushions and throws are a great way to set or strengthen the style, and they boost your comfort or warm you up, too. You can add colours, patterns and different textures to get the effect you want. Plus, new cushions and a throw or two are an easy and affordable way to refresh your sofa whenever you feel like it.

What chairs look good with an L-shaped sofa?
Many of our sofas are part of a seating series, so you can also get armchairs or even a footstool with the exact same look. There are lots of other options, too, like this grey swivel chair and footstool that complement the big, generous yellow-green sofa.

Divide your room and make it feel bigger
You can use an L-shaped sofa as a room divider, like here. The back of the sofa separates the dining area from the relaxing area. Splitting a room into two smaller ones, each with their own function, can make it feel like you have more space.
